Halloweekend Screenings Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show 👠

The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975 poster
Film.ca is making sure that fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show can do the time warp again and again this year, with not one but three screenings of the camp classic taking place this weekend (Oct 30th-Nov 1st). The popular annual event is known for selling out, so the theatre has added these extra showtimes to accommodate demand.
Rocky Horror devotees will have the chance to buy themed merch, as well as “participation kits” which include flashlights, noisemakers, dry toast, and an assortment of other seemingly random items that have all become essential to the cult film viewing experience. These screenings are known for their tradition of boisterous audience participation, and since Film.ca is tripling down on the mayhem this year, even more viewers can get in on the fun!
Last Week For “Boos & Brews” 👻
Throughout October, the Oakville Historical Society has been leading Ghost Walks around Old Oakville, and on certain nights of the week these tours have involved a few extra “spirits”. The Tuesday and Wednesday night walks are known as “Boos & Brews”, a 19+ variation on the tour through Oakville’s haunted history which ends with a seasonal sip at a participating local establishment.
As spooky season is soon coming to a close, Tuesday October 27th and Wednesday October 28th will be the last Boos & Brews of the year. Tuesday night’s post-walk gathering will take place at the King’s Arms, while Wednesday night will end at The Mule, so if boos and brews are what you’re after, consider this the last call!
New Oakville-Burlington Bridge Expected To Open Soon 🌉
The Wyecroft Bridge connecting Oakville with Burlington over top of Bronte Creek is expected to officially open by November 30th. Some final paving and railway additions still remain, but when the bridge is finished this new route is expected to ease congestion on local roads as well as the QEW.
The $117 million project—which first broke ground in October 2023—is said to be on budget, and Ward 1 Councillor Jonathan McNeice calls it the biggest infrastructure investment the area has seen in a quarter century.

Pet Spotlight: Meet Milo! 🐾

HSOMH
Shih Tzus trace their history back to the imperial palaces of China, while Pomeranians were known to be a favourite of Queen Victoria, so Milo the five year old Shih Tzu/Pomeranian has the pedigree to prove he’d make for an adorably majestic companion!
Though nervous around new people, Milo reveals his true sweet and playful nature once his trust has been earned. He’ll do best in an adult-only detached home with a fenced-in yard, where he can work on overcoming his fears and developing his impulse control. This confidence-building process may take some time, some patience, and some treats, but Milo is a prince of a pup, eager to learn and to be a part of his own royal family!
Halloween Costume Party At Fred Astaire 🪩
How graceful can “The Monster Mash” or the dance from Thriller get? We’ll all find out this Friday, October 30th, at Fred Astaire’s Halloween Costume Party. The dance studio (225 Lakeshore Road East) has been teaching ballroom and Latin dance in Oakville for 30 years, and now in honour of that anniversary, as well as Halloween, they’re throwing a party.
The fun starts at 8:15, and prizes will be given out to the best costumes. First timers and ball room pros are all invited, so whether you’re a waltzing warlock, a samba-ready skeleton, or a jack-o’-lantern who’s just learning to jive, this is your chance to give Halloween a real whirl!
