Local Art Show Celebrates Canada 🧑🎨

“Artists Celebrating Canada” @ OAS Gallery
The Oakville Art Society is hosting an exhibition that features work from 16 artists who all share the same muse—Canada! The “Artists Celebrating Canada” art show and sale will hold its opening reception on Sunday, October 25th from 11am until 5pm at the OAS building (560 Bronte Road).
The exhibition will showcase artists who have been inspired by Canada’s landscapes and cityscapes, as well as by its history, culture, and wildlife. In their paintings, collages, and sculptures the artists have captured everything from the rolling beauty of Ontario’s farmland to the rough waters on either coast, so this entire collection of artwork is definitely an expression of true patriot love.
“Haunts & Harvest” At Final Bronte Farmers’ Market Of 2026 🎃
Good news for anyone who feels like there’s been something missing from their Sunday routine ever since the Bronte Farmers’ Market ended with the summer: it’s coming back for one last fall-themed bash!
This Sunday, October 25th, from 10am until 2pm, Market Square will once again be filled with local vendors, live musicians, and an overall festive atmosphere. The theme of the day is “Haunts & Harvest”, so Halloween costumes are encouraged, especially for any pups in attendance, because a Doggy Costume Parade will take place at 12pm. It’s the final market of the year, so this is the time to stock up on market finds and fun while you still can!
What The Mayoral Candidates Said At This Weekend’s Debates 🎤
This past Sunday, the five candidates in the race to become Oakville’s next Mayor met twice in the same day to discuss a range of issues facing the town, and to contrast their respective visions for Oakville’s future. Oakville News has summarized the major points brought up at both events, including relevant quotes from each of the mayoral hopefuls.
The cost of housing for young families and the use of “strong mayor powers” were two major topics, and each of the candidates also outlined which issues they would prioritize during their potential four year term. With under a week until Election Day, this is a useful read for anyone still looking for more information to determine the direction of their vote.

OT Student Is Making It Easier To Volunteer With New Platform 💻

Valentir.app
40 hours of community service has long been one of the requirements for receiving an Ontario high school diploma, but many students are unsure of how or where to even start the process of collecting their hours. Oakville Trafalgar’s Hani Zaidi felt this same confusion as a grade nine student searching for volunteer opportunities, and this experience led him to create Valantir, a platform designed to connect students with the nonprofits and organizations that best match their interests and skills.
Now in grade 12, Hani is still running the platform and steadily growing its reach. In August, Hani presented the benefits of Valantir to 60 students through the Peel Multicultural Council, and the platform has received enthusiastic feedback from a variety of local organizations. Because of Hani’s innovation, more students will be able to find meaningful ways to serve the community—an impact lasting far beyond those original 40 hours!
Stuffed Animal Hospital Hosted By OPL & HSOMH 🧸
If you’ve got a teddy bear with a tummy ache or a stuffy with a stuffed nose in your house, you can bring them down to Iroquois Ridge Library on Friday, October 23rd between 4 and 5pm, when the doors will open for the “Stuffed Animal Hospital" hosted by the Oakville Public Library and the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton, and Halton.
Children aged 5-8 can check in their beloved plush patients for a wellness exam and a patch-up, while participating in activities that teach them more about caring for pets and showing kindness to all animals.
