Get To Know The Five Candidates Running For Mayor 🗳️

Town of Oakville
Election Day is now only one week away, which means that Oakville will soon choose from the five candidates currently running for Mayor and decide who will next lead the Town. To help voters make a more thoroughly informed decision, Inside Halton has compiled a “Meet The Candidates” primer, which features introductory answers from each of the five hopefuls in their own words.
In this resource, Rob Burton, Arvind Choudhary, Julia Hanna, Jeff Knoll, and Sean O’Meara all describe their ties to Oakville, their political experience, and what kind of future they envision for Oakville. Inside Halton has published similar questionnaires for the candidates running in each of Oakville’s seven wards, plus the potential school board trustees. Great information for anyone who wants to know the candidates beyond simply seeing names on street signs!
Golf Town’s First Flagship Store Has Opened In Oakville ⛳️

Image from Golf Town Oakville
Oakville has plenty of historical “links” to golf, with more than half a dozen courses in the immediate area, including the famous Glen Abbey Golf Course which has hosted multiple Canadian Opens and was long home to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. All this history might be exactly why Golf Town chose to open its first ever flagship store right here, with a grand opening just this past weekend.
The new store (at 290 North Service Road West) is 40,000 square feet, which makes it more than twice the size of any other Golf Town. It offers a mix of retail and entertainment features, including an extensive apparel shop, plus simulator and interactive experiences. The store also celebrates the company’s Canadian golf pride, featuring images from courses across the country in its design. With this addition, it seems fair to say that Oakville is officially the Golf Town of Canada!
Wine & Tarot Night At Sandwich Society 🍷
October is the traditional month for all things spooky and spectral, mystical and mysterious, and those will be the exact vibes on offer this Saturday, October 24th, at The Sandwich Society’s “Wine & Tarot” night.
The restaurant known for their traditional Italian sandwiches is partnering with professional tarot readers from Inner Intuition to provide a unique evening of candlelit conversation. The $65 fixed price covers a two course meal + glass of wine, along with a private tarot reading. Whether your future involves “The Lovers”, “The Fool”, or “The Tower” will be revealed by the deck, but you can decide for yourself if “The Wine Glass” and ‘The Sandwich” are what’s in store!

Bronte Creek Community Clean Up 💚

Ontario Parks
The Halton Region Salmon and Trout Association are spearheading a community effort to clean up Bronte Creek on Saturday, October 24th. They’re inviting all environmentally-conscious volunteers to join them at Petro Canada Park (388 Bronte Road) where the group will spend the morning preserving the riverbank’s natural beauty.
Gloves and garbage bags will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to wear boots and/or waders, and to dress for the weather. This is the HRSTA’s final event of the year, and they appreciate the chance to give back to the creek that has provided so much over the course of the season!
Rainbow Expressions Salon Celebrates 40 Years! 🌈
40 is always a milestone, whether it’s a birthday or an anniversary, and a business lasting 40 years is something special indeed. Bronte’s Rainbow Expressions Salon is celebrating their ruby anniversary this Saturday, October 24th with an afternoon party for their clients, family, and friends.
The event will be held at the salon itself (129 Jones Street) and will feature treats, refreshments, and even some prizes, while the Rainbow Team reflects on 40 years of hair artistry in Oakville. So much has changed since the salon was first founded in 1986, but Rainbow Expressions has managed to remain in (hair)style!
