The British Cars Are Coming!

Calling all local businesses in Oakville! ‼️📋

The Town of Oakville is running a survey for local business owners, and there are two weeks left to fill it out.

It's called the Business Conditions Survey, and it's from Invest Oakville, the Town's economic development department. It takes about 15 minutes.

The survey asks how business is going: business conditions, staffing, growth plans, investment, importing and exporting, and how the Town's own services are working for you.

The goal is to understand the opportunities and challenges facing Oakville businesses right now. Your answers will then be used to plan the programs and support the Town offers next.

They want to hear from all sectors and business sizes: professional services, advanced manufacturing, health and life sciences, digital media, retail, hospitality, and ventures people started on their own. All voices are welcome.

The survey closes September 30, 2026.

The Union Jacks will be flapping in Bronte Creek Provincial Park this coming Sunday, September 20th, when British Car Day is set to once again take place. Hosted by the Toronto Triumph Club, the event is North America’s largest one-day all-British exhibition of cars. 

Drawing visitors from across the country and beyond, British Car Day has been a tradition since 1984. 56 classes of cars and motorcycles will be on display, as the event welcomes models new and old, partially restored or driven daily. The only requirement is that they all be British-made. Last year’s show saw over 9,000 spectators pass through so it’s safe to say, as the British might, that this event is aces!

On Saturday, September 19th, Oakville is being encouraged to reduce, reuse, recycle and REmarket, at a new event hosted at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, where anyone can bring whatever clean, usable items they’re looking to get rid of. There they can in return also take away whatever donated items might catch their eye.  

Books, clothing, prescription glasses, and household items are all suggested possibilities for donation, as long as they’re in gently-used condition. REmarket has also partnered with companies who will help dispose of harder-to-recycle items to ensure that less waste ends up in landfills.

Community officials and HDSB students gathered last Thursday for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the construction site of Oakville’s newest public elementary school.

The yet-to-be-named school, located at 3490 Preserve Drive, will be three storeys tall and feature an open concept library—space enough to welcome 926 future K-8 students. 

Though the school isn’t expected to open until the fall of 2028, everyone at the groundbreaking ceremony spoke of the future with excitement, looking forward to all of the friendships, learning, and community ties that will also be built there. 

Last week, the Oakville Blades raised Marc Pinizzotto’s number 26 up into the rafters before their game, honouring their former captain, a police officer who tragically lost his life in the line of duty this past June. 

Pinizzotto was a star for the Blades from 1999-2003. He went on to play professional hockey in Germany, before returning to join the Toronto Police Service where he served for 18 years. Marc was a husband, father, and coach with the Oakville Rangers, where he shaped countless young hockey lives. 

Members of Marc’s family and community numbering in the hundreds gathered at the Blades game in his honour, where his son dropped the ceremonial puck. The Oakville Blades will also wear memorial badges reading “Pinner 26” on their helmets for the rest of the season.

Visit Oakville is looking to crown Oakville’s Best Fall Treat with their latest “Talk of the Town” award. If there’s a bakery or restaurant in town serving up your favourite fall flavours, this is your chance to make sure they’re recognized, because voting is nomination-based. 

Will the winner be a crisp or a crumble? A fritter or a flan? Will the classic apple prove to be the people’s favourite, or is pumpkin spice too omnipresent to be stopped? Voting ends tomorrow, and the winner will be announced on Visit Oakville’s social media channels at the end of the week.
