All donations made through GIVEOakville go to local charities, receive a tax receipt and make a difference in our community.

Oakville Public Library Presents BookTalk Live! 📚

Oakville Public Library

The BookTok realm of TikTok has become a popular place for readers to discuss books and build viral hype around their favourites, but if you’re interested in learning about titles before they’re trending, the Oakville Public Library is putting on their annual BookTalk Live!, an event in which publishing professionals preview major upcoming releases.

Starting at 6pm on Thursday, November 5th, at the Rehearsal Hall of Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, BookTalk Live! will feature speakers from Raincoast Books and Penguin Random House Canada who will offer an insider’s look at what’s bubbling beneath the bestseller lists. The $40 ticketed event will also include a cash bar and an exclusive pop-up book sale.

Town Seeking Volunteers For Action Committees 📨

Your vote in the municipal election doesn’t have to be the last time you get to have a say in the decisions that impact the Oakville community. If you have ideas and perspective to share, the Town is looking for residents to serve on an assortment of committees and boards that will have influence throughout the upcoming 2026-2030 term.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Committee of Adjustment, the Heritage Oakville Advisory Committee, the Community Spirit Awards Selection Committee, and the Oakville Public Library Board are all currently seeking volunteers. Applications are due by 4:30pm on November 20th, and residents of all abilities and qualifications will be considered.

Dyanne Dumas Trio Celebrates Leonard Cohen 🎤

The Oakville Digest

On the first Wednesday of every month, the Figaro Coffee House at 350 Lakeshore Road East transforms into a classic jazz club, thanks to the musical stylings of the Dyanne Dumas Trio who have developed a loyal following among Oakville’s music lovers.

Dyanne’s timeless voice and the trio’s impeccable musicianship transport audiences to a modern jazz age as they take on material well beyond the genre standards, making the White Stripes sound as elegant as Bob Dylan.

This Wednesday, November 4th, The Dyanne Dumas Trio will return to Figaro with a setlist that pays tribute to Leonard Cohen, as this week marks 10 years since the beloved Canadian icon’s passing. These monthly shows are always a popular choice for both date nights and girls’ nights—October’s show even had a full birthday party in attendance—and this November offering promises to be another wonderfully nostalgic celebration.

Oakville Little Leaguer’s Special World Series Experience ⚾️

While the Milwaukee Brewers were in the process of becoming World Series Champions, their home ballpark became a field of dreams for Oakville’s Elliot Kostiuk, the elementary student and Oakville Little League player who earned the chance to participate in the MLB’s Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition.

As the name implies, the competition requires kids to show off their skills in all aspects of the game, throwing strikes on target, batting for distance, and sprinting between bases. After winning at the community and regional levels, Elliot moved on to the literal big leagues, travelling to American Family Field in Milwaukee for the final round, which took place during the first two games of the World Series. What an accomplishment, to make it to “The Show” before grade eight graduation!
