Lakeshore Road and its surrounding neighbourhoods will be all over Strava this upcoming Sunday (October 4th), when the Oakville Half Marathon is set to take place, bringing hundreds of runners to town. The race will start at Shell Park at 7:30 am, and the 21.1 km route will run east along Lakeshore before looping through Tannery Park and leading back to the finish line, also at Shell Park. 

The flat and largely shaded route is ideal for distance running beginners as well as experienced runners who are chasing a personal best. There are also 10km and 5km route options to accommodate those with different levels of enthusiasm or ability, and every finisher will get a t-shirt and medal. Hares and tortoises are all welcome, along with anyone who just wants to stand on the sidelines and cheer!

On the very same day of the Half Marathon, another Oakville event will be honouring a different enthusiastic group who are also known for their love of running—they just use four legs instead of two! Labrapalooza 2026 is coming to Bronte Creek Park on Sunday, October 4th, with an opening 2km dog walk scheduled for 10am followed by an afternoon full of fun and play.

This family-friendly fundraising event raises money for Lab Rescue, an organization that takes care of labrador retrievers in need across Ontario. Pre-registration and pledge forms are available online, and attendees can enter draws for prizes. In the spirit of the famously friendly lab, all breeds and types of dogs are welcome to join the party and make the day a true “paw”looza!

Earlier this month, Oakville hosted yet another incredibly successful Terry Fox Run, with more than 2,000 participants coming out to raise over $180,000 for cancer research. Next Monday (October 5th) will be another chance for the community to honour Terry’s impact and continue his legacy, as Film.Ca is hosting a special screening of the new documentary Run Terry Run where all proceeds will be donated directly to The Terry Fox Foundation. 

Featuring never-before-seen footage, the documentary tells the story of Terry’s famous Marathon of Hope while revealing the real human being who would go on to become a legend. The screening will begin at 7:30 pm with a special video introduction from the film’s director and Terry’s brother.

The wood-fired pizzas and thoughtfully curated wine list at 7 Enoteca have long been popular with Oakville locals and visitors, and that popularity has been validated by the movers and shakers over at the Michelin Guide, who have once again included the restaurant on their 2026 list of Bib Gourmands. 

Different from the famous stars that the guide so tight-fistedly gives out, a Bib Gourmand recognizes high quality food that is somewhat more accessibly priced. The foodies who already flock to the longtime Towne Square anchor and its cozy, atmospheric dining room already know that 7 Enoteca certainly fits that bib!

One look at Poncho’s elegant whiskers and piercing stare and it’s clear that he’s got an Old Hollywood glamour to him, with a big star’s personality to match! He loves to be in the middle of the action (once everyone has earned his approval), and when he’s not cuddling with his favourite person or judging guests suspiciously, you can find him catching up on his much-needed beauty sleep.  

Now seven years old, Poncho arrived at the HSOMH after a previous owner was unable to care for him. He needs a home where he can be peaceful, playful, and properly stimulated—no children or other pets, please, as Poncho does best when he’s the star of the show!
