Together With Visioom!
Oakville's Backyard Home Company
Mom's next home, right in your backyard?
That's what many families visiting our Oakville showroom are exploring.
They want an aging parent nearby, while still giving them privacy, independence and a comfortable home of their own.
Then they step inside the Visioom home and say:
"Wow, I would live in this."
It has its own kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and storage. A complete, permanent home that can support an aging parent today, give an adult child a place of their own tomorrow, or provide rental income as your family's needs change.
On many Oakville properties, a home like this may be possible right in the backyard.
Could one fit on your property?
Send us your address and we'll review your lot for free, and if it isn't a fit, we tell you plainly.

Ward 5 Park To Be Renamed In Honour of Marc Grant 🌳

Ridgeview Park
Oakville’s Town Council unanimously voted to honour their recently deceased colleague Marc Grant in a way that truly honours his life and legacy, by renaming a park in the heart of Ward 5 after the longtime Councillor.
Ridgeview Park on Sewell Drive, across from St. Michael’s Catholic Elementary School will soon be renamed Marc Grant Park, in recognition of the man who represented the neighbourhood and the rest of Ward 5 for almost 23 years.
The decision was made at the August 10th council meeting, the first since Grant’s sudden passing. Flowers and a photograph of Marc were placed at his vacant seat and his fellow councillors shared their memories. Marc’s kindness and dedication to public service were highlighted, along with his advocacy for green spaces, which makes the upcoming Marc Grant Park dedication all the more poignant.
William Halton Parkway Bridge To Open Soon 🌉
The long-awaited bridge extension of the William Halton Parkway is expected to open later this week on August 17th.
The new four-lane roadway spans across Sixteen Mile Creek, connecting Neyagawa to Third Line. It will have on-road bike lanes, multi-use pathways, and a sidewalk, as well as new lighting and landscaping. The large-scale project also incorporates a new roundabout at Fourth Line and Burnhamthorpe Road West.
Begun in March of 2021, the William Halton Parkway Extension was expected to be finished by June 2026 but some additional time was required to ensure that all standards were met. The road is already open to traffic between Third Line and Harasym Trail, and now with the opening of the final stretch from west of the bridge to Neyagawa Boulevard the new corridor will finally be complete.

Oakville Karate Studio On Incredible Hot Streak! 🥋

Image provided by Toraguchi Martial Arts via Oakville News
The Toraguchi Martial Arts School bills itself as “Halton’s Premiere Martial Arts School” and lately they have been racking up successes that irrefutably support this claim! Athletes from the school have been dominant at provincial, national, and even international competitions over the past few months, bringing medals of all kinds back to Oakville.
Their hot streak started back in April with a five medal showing at the U.S. Open and Junior International Cup in Fort Worth, Texas, which included a U.S. Open Title win in the 10-11 male advanced kata division for Logan Makrygiannis. The success continued at the Canadian Nationals held in Edmonton, where Eira Aastrand won the U14 Canadian Title while five of her teammates also medalled or placed; and just last week at the Ontario Summer Games, three competitors from the program swept the U14 Female Kata Division!
The school credits much of their success to the leadership of Sensei Jonathan Kenney, and the tradition of excellence that has been part of the program since its founding in 1999.
Oakville Resident Launches Fundraiser For Colombia 🇨🇴
Oakville real estate agent Darryl Popp was moved to take action after witnessing the extensive damage and devastation caused by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Colombia just last week.
Popp was in the country at the time for both business and personal reasons, and though thankfully not at the epicentre of the earthquake, he still experienced the harrowing tremors that affected much of the country. When he later saw the full effects of the disaster, he was compelled to try and help and quickly launched a fundraiser through GoFundMe, where money raised will go to the Colombian Red Cross.
Popp is hoping that many others will be inspired to give, and that the people of Colombia will soon be able to recover and rebuild.
