Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Expansion Now Underway 🏥

Halton Health Care

Construction has officially begun on the planned expansion to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The provincial government recently announced their plan to invest $154 million in the facility, with a project that will bring 111 new beds and approximately 79,000 square feet of renovated space

These additions are intended to better serve patients across Halton, reducing wait times and improving access to care. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones was on site to celebrate the start of the renovations, a milestone she says means that “more families in the region will have access to world-class hospital care, closer to home.”

Nominations Open For Oakville Business Awards 🏆

The Oakville Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for their 2027 Oakville Business Awards. The organization is looking to recognize businesses, leaders, and entrepreneurs who make a difference in the community.

There are 11 award categories with different eligibility for each. The categories honour businesses both large and small across various industries, each one celebrating qualities like altruism, innovation, and sustainability.

Nominations can be submitted online, and are open until October 31st.

Get Ready For The Oak Park Fall Fair 🎟️

With August ending it’s time to look ahead to what has become a favourite early-autumn tradition for many Oakville families: The Oak Park Fall Fair!

This year’s event will happen on Saturday, September 12th, from 11am to 10pm. The Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre will turn into a little wonderland for the day, with seven inflatables, interactive activities and exhibits, and a “movie under the stars” screening of Toy Story 5.

As always admission is free, but those interested in a BBQ meal (featuring hot/veggie/halal dogs, salad, nachos, and a cookie) can purchase $8 tickets online now. Online bidding for the silent auction featuring nearly 200 prizes is also open.

Downtown Oakville Says Goodbye To Avalon Fine Jewellery 💍

Instagram post

After 38 years of making Downtown Oakville sparkle, Avalon Fine Jewellery closed their doors for the last time on Saturday, August 29th, as owners Lucy and Terry have decided to retire

In a sweet letter to customers posted outside the store, Lucy and Terry expressed what an honour it’s been to be a part of so many birthdays, engagements, anniversaries and other celebrations over the years, and how much they’ll cherish their memories.

Other downtown businesses took to Instagram comments to wish their former neighbours well in their next chapter, and to thank them for being a true gem of the downtown community.
